Follow me on Twitter / Be my friend on Facebook
So if you follow me on Twitter or are friends with me on Facebook, you’ll know that on Saturday I talked about it being my first wedding of the year… as a guest! If you’ve read the blog for a while, you probably have heard me talk about my best friend, Garrett. Garrett was my best man (had two of them, actually) at my wedding. We’ve known each other for 23 years. As far back as I can remember, the family dinner on Garrett’s bday was always at Claim Jumper — and every year I was the only non-family member treated to dinner. On our wedding day, Garrett’s parents were the ones who gathered up our dinner while we talked with our guests. I can’t express how near to my heart the Miller family is.
On Saturday, Garrett’s brother, Ryan, got married. Now Ryan isn’t just my best friend’s brother. He’s actually a dear friend of mine, as well. I love him a ton. He also married an awesome chick. Every once and a while, two people get together and I almost feel relieved that they found each other — not because I was scared that they might not find a match, but because they are so perfectly matched, that them being paired up with anyone else would have been a real shame. I don’t know Megan super well, but after one lunch with the two of them it was shocking how much they just fit. They weren’t engaged yet, or anything, but Lindsay and I immediately started talking about how these two had better get married when we were driving home. Seeing my friend marry someone like that just felt so good.
Now… I actually wasn’t the hired photographer for this wedding. In fact, I usually try and shy away from shooting friends/family weddings. But I brought my stuff :) A friend of Megan’s shot the wedding but I had Ryan ask if it would be allowed to bring some gear and maybe back her up. I knew that she was just starting with wedding photography, so I figured she might not mind if I shot behind her. But still, it’s photography etiquette to ask. The photographer was sweet and said she was a bit relieved to have a second shooter. So I felt good about bringing my stuff. And I’m actually really glad I brought my stuff because she had some camera malfunction problems which left my gear as the only working stuff. In the end, I think we got some amazing images for a dear friend of mine and his wife. I’m still so happy for the two of them :)

This is Garrett. Ryan’s brother. They not only look a lot alike. They sound identical over the phone. In high school I’d call looking for Gar, Ryan would pick up, and I’d start talking to him as if he were Garrett. If they shared a house phone still, I’d do it to this day :)

Here’s Garrett being a terrible brother — tweeting or facebooking and thinking no one knows… I’m always watchin’, Gare!
