So one of my best friends, Josh Newton, is putting on a workshop with Sara Kauss. I don’t personally know Sara, but I know (and LOVE) Josh. Josh is one of those guys that you HATE shooting a wedding with. Why, you may ask? Because he not only shoots awesome images — every single one of them is a PERFECT exposure. It’s just ridiculous. I’ve never shot with anyone who basically post-processes their images in camera like he does! And I hate him for it… :P Seriously though, Josh is amazing. Sara is an awesome photographer — and Josh says she’s an amazing person — so this is definitely going to be an awesome learning experience for the attendants.
The most important thing about this workshop (to me, at least) is this. Josh is one of a kind. He honestly loves helping new photographers. I know, I know… that is sooo cliche. But it’s exceptionally true with Josh. I’ve never known such an established photographer who will take second shooters who’ve never shot a wedding… ever. Years ago, Josh was similarly welcomed into the industry by our friend, David Jay — so Josh sort of continued on with that mindset of helping everyone (even if they have nothing to offer you). Another thing, Josh isn’t a struggling photographer who is putting on a workshop because he’s taking a hit during these hard times. I know Josh’s schedule. He shoots an insane amount of weddings every year and we hate him for it! Mainly because we don’t get to see him often enough ;) But yeah, Josh loves people and thoroughly enjoys helping photographers. He’s the type of photographer I would have LOVED to learn from when I was starting…
Anyhow, Josh called me asking if I’d be a guest speaker for the Santa Barbara stop of the workshop (they’re doing the workshop across the country). Normally, I’d say no. As outgoing and comfortable in front of people I am, that’s when it’s a two way street (even if I’m hogging that street!). When I know people can’t talk back? Yikes! But since this is Josh’s workshop, I feel totally comfortable being a guest speaker. I’m actually excited as I always learn when I’m around Josh — and I know I’ll get some awesome stuff from Sara, as well :)
So if you’re interested, check out the workshop’s website and sign up!

The above is a photo I took of Josh last year in Cambodia…

… and here’s one of him out in Phuket, Thailand :) The above photo is 100% how Josh is with every person he meets!
