Bam Margera + Bobby Earle = good times

So when I was a teenager, I was all skateboarder. It was literally all I did and cared about. I wanted to work in the industry for the rest of my life, skate all day, get sponsors… I was obsessed. I still love skateboarding — I just suck at it compared to the old days.

At my old skate shop, we would have autograph signings. This one time the Adio team came in. There were other awesome skaters, but the only two most would know of would be Tony Hawk and Bam Margera. We always loved watching moms line up to get autographs of people they didn’t know or care about. My (now) brother-in-law and I decided we’d get our chairs on the autograph table and sign away. So it was other pro skaters (Jeremy Wray and Kenny Anderson for those that are interested), Tony Hawk, Bam, and then us. People lined up, got REAL pros’ autographs, and then Isaac and me. They were just as excited about ours as they were T-Birds and Bam’s. Amazing.

My friend, and now acclaimed photographer, Jimmy Fontaine, just shared with me an old picture. Keep in mind, this is about 10 years ago…

If you look behind my pen, you’ll see the beginnings of my fake name that day. I was signing it as “michael iice“… Why we thought it was funny to spell “ice” with two “i”‘s is beyond me :)

Good times.

Bobby
