So I’ve had a few people “defriend” me on my facebook page recently and/or send me angry emails :( It’s been over facebook messaging.
I’m sure there’s tons of people who get more email than I do — I saw my pally boy DJ’s facebook page once and he had well over a thousand unread messages! — but I still get enough that it is just impossible to keep up with. I really, really love the fact that some photographers starting out connect with me on here (especially since I was in those shoes not all that long ago :), and I try to read every email, but it’s getting harder and harder to answer everyone’s questions. So if you get a response, woohoo! (or maybe not as my advice might be super lame :P) But if you don’t, PLEASE don’t think I’m ignoring you or just watching TV instead :P
To give you an idea, here’s my current gmail and hotmail account…
…my unread facebook messages…
…and here’s my maxed out PM box on a photography forum (POTN — a great place to get answers from tons of photographers about wedding photography. I’m on there a fair amount :

Now, where I suck with emails I make up for with real life hanging out! So for everyone that wants to get together for an Office party at my place (read about it here), how does this coming Friday night sound (Nov 6th)? Maybe around 7pm-ish??? I’ll get pizza for everyone so let me know how many mouths need feeding!
Here’s a recent engagement image that I like to spice this post up :)
charla BLUE - WOW! I can only imagine how difficult it must be to keep up with email, facebook, forums, etc. YIKES! I have a hard time myself and I'm a nobody. LOL. Awesome job on keeping it real. I'm a fan!October 29, 2009 - 11:24 pm
Rhiona Ward - Those inboxes are a little on the insane side! You are an awesome person for sifting through them all. But maybe you need an assistant ;) (assisant...read *me*)
Whooo! This is going to be tons of fun :) I am so glad you are doing this!!! Count me and Ricky in. I think I might have to think up some random questions for you, just for old time sake ;)October 30, 2009 - 12:01 am
Elisha Francis - hey guys. i have an e-mail sitting in your facebook inbox, so i'll try this way instead. ;) we'd like to get together to pay you.October 30, 2009 - 8:18 am
MrsD - bobby...it's o - k. You are human. and an amazing one at that. Wish I could come and hang out. Should I tell you I have never watched "the office"? mmm. maybe not :)October 30, 2009 - 1:40 am
John Shim - If I were in San Diego (almost took a job there a few years ago) I'd so come over (with the wife of course)! :)October 30, 2009 - 4:30 am
Steve Hayward - I can totally understand how overwhelming your emails etc must be! I'm just happy you've got a great blog and I can follow along with the how-tos you put up.October 30, 2009 - 4:49 am
Warren Williams - Far out! That's insane, and I thought mine was bad enough at times. Well done on your popularity.October 30, 2009 - 1:48 pm
dani marie - it reminds me of Jim Carey in tht movie cn't remember the nme where he gets to play God nd he decided to answer peoples prayers via e-mail....LOL!!
Hey I've been with you when I was the only one who made comments on your page, so if I don't expect a reply then people need to get over it, because you didn't get into helping people and doing photography to become a prisoner to the computer, so don't take it hard B. And to everyone out there bogging down your e-mails, let's all take a pledge right now....
I....(fill in name) do swear, to only e-mail Bobby with funny jokes.. great quotes, things to make him laugh....and only die hard questions that I am unable to answer via the power of reason and google....and to not e-mil him with questions that deep down I know the answer or know I can find the answer so that Bobby can have some sort of a life...(LOL)....so that he may take good cre of his beautiful wife and bitchin two dogs...AMEN!
LOL~!~October 30, 2009 - 6:14 am
dani marie - FYI I am typing while lying on the floor....sorry for the spelling mistakes above !!October 30, 2009 - 6:15 am
Erin - I'm not sure where to reply if we'd like to attend the Office pizza party (I assume not via email after today's blog post!) But you can count Randy and I in! We're virgins of the British Office, so this should be fun!October 30, 2009 - 6:43 am
Char Baiz - aww, that's a bummer that someone would "defriend" you over not answering an e-mail as quickly as they'd like. Don't they know that you're super popular?! ;) It's so funny cause I always read posts by you and J* and David Jay about how crazy their e-mail boxes are (as I sit here praying feverantly for an e-mail in my inbox for photography, possibly an inquiry) and it makes me at least grateful that I'm not so crazy busy (yet) that I still can answer e-mails in one night ... even if there is only 2 of then ;P Must be exausting when something as small as e-mails become a daunting task.
Anyways, my goal today is to find a babysitter for next friday, so if that goes well, Joel and I will totally be there. Let me know if you want me to bring some homemade chocolate chip cookies or something :DOctober 30, 2009 - 6:52 am
Marissa Rodriguez - WHOA! I cannot even imagine how difficut that would be seeing as I get like TWO emails a week(if that!) You are obviously doing an amazing job and you have sooo many people who look up to you! Keep it up! :)October 30, 2009 - 8:40 am
Steph Irons - :( i wanna comne watch the uk office with you & lindsay! why dont you live closer?October 30, 2009 - 9:45 am
cindy lowe - nov 6 - we are going to camping. how about tonight? or tomorrow night? :D hahahhaOctober 30, 2009 - 9:51 am
curtoneil - Pfffttt... I'll be doing something so much more cooler in somewhere so muc cooler ;). It begins with a "Hiya!" and ends in a "Weee!" (okay I took some liberties on the pronunciation).October 30, 2009 - 11:40 am
Kyle - I feel you!
One thing that I've done in the past is when I get questions from photographers I answer them in a blog post, that way when I get the same question again I can refer them back to that post. Takes two seconds and that way people aren't getting angry because I'm not answering their emails!October 30, 2009 - 12:55 pm
LC David - Great post, few days before my friend hired Philadelphia Wedding Photographer, these are really expert photographers for wedding and othe special events, i also took the contact from these and must hire in my wedding..November 1, 2009 - 1:03 pm
I’m doing a little SEO experiment. I’m curious how much easier (or difficult) certain parts of the world are to show up on page 1 for google. So I’m just going to make a blog post title to see. I’ve shot weddings in cool places all around the world – but never Rome, so that’s my first experiment.
If you’ve found this blog post through google because of my spurious title, check out my wedding portfolio :)

Now, I want you guys to look at the following picture, but don’t read below the image! Not yet, at least.
These two items frustrate Lindsay to no end. Or, I should say, the way I’ll use them at times frustrates her to no end. So take a guess. How do you think I annoy the living daylights out of Lindsay with these? It’s pretty out there :)
Alright, you ready? Quick little disclaimer. I’m a pragmatist to the enth degree. If it’s practical and gets the job done? I’m sold. Just sayin…
1. The bowl. Just a normal bowl, right? Well, when we run out of clean cups, I have always grabbed a bowl. I’ll put ice in it, then put whatever I’m drinking in it, and that’s my new cup. Lindsay HATES when I do this! She’d rather jump up, clean a cup for me, and then she doesn’t have to see me drinking out of a bowl. I simply tell her she needs to get out more because billions of people drink out of bowls in the world AND her coffee mugs are the size of bowls anyway! :P
2. The dish soap. So we have different shower soap. Lindsay has magical girl soap with fairy sprinkles and I have whatever soap she buys me. Every once and a while, I run out of my soap before she gets more soap. When that happens, I just grab the dish soap. So mixed in with the shower items is this big, huge dish soap container :)
So did anyone guess anything remotely close to that? Let’s hear it!
Julie Jamieson Cruz - Lol, I guessed the bowl. That's the chinese in you ;) I grew up drinking out of small bowls like that during my summers in Taiwan :) Mark actually does it every once in a blue moon and I tease him :)
The dishwashing soap is a little out there though.......you dirty skillet! ;) jkOctober 28, 2009 - 11:12 pm
Matt Sanderson - I can reasonably understand the bowl-ness... But using 'washing up liquid' (as us Brits call it) to wash with? That's just odd... But not actually odd when you think about it!
2 Questions... Why not but more mugs or glasses!? And why not just ensure you always have soap and shampoo?? :P :D
- MattOctober 29, 2009 - 12:07 am
Ginger Murray - Nope, didn't guess either. Honestly, I really like the bowl idea. I may want to use that when I'm procrastinating on getting the dishes done... hm!October 29, 2009 - 12:40 am
Ginger Murray - (I mean I didn't guess either correctly:))October 29, 2009 - 12:41 am
Steph Irons - youre a genuine weirdo bobby... the cup thing i can handle but washing your skin with super degreaser detergent? thats gotta tingle!October 29, 2009 - 12:43 am
Rhiona Ward - hahaha. you and my lovely fiance have the bowl thing in common. he will use weird tupperware bowls when we are out of cups (which seems to happen way to often). drives me insane :) he has even tried to get me to drink out of his random objects. nooo thank you. i have a prejudice against bowls for cups and i'd like to keep it that way. dish soap!? that really can't be good for one's skin.October 29, 2009 - 12:44 am
Julie Kling - I thought that you used the things *together* to bug Lindsay. That was really difficult to think of, and I couldn't come up with anything. But knowing that the way you use each item individually is how you bug her - well, that would be easier to think up.And, in case you didn't know, bathing with dish soap helps when you have poison oak. At summer camp the counselors would always have us take "Joyful showers" - cold water and Joy dish soap.October 29, 2009 - 10:07 am
Jane Hasty - I tihnk that might drive me nuts too. My husband will sometimes use bar soap on his hair. What the ? !?October 29, 2009 - 3:58 am
Carriebearwcu - My husband drinks out of bowls when we run out of cups. It isn't the thought of drinking out of the bowl that bothers me -- but the slurping sound he makes really gets on my nerves. Also, I hate it when people drink their soup from the side of their bowls. Just saying....October 29, 2009 - 4:42 am
marissa moss - hah! that is so funny! and i can't believe so many commenters share your bowl-as-cup technique! who knew!?October 29, 2009 - 7:41 am
Jasmine - seriously?!?! i think we'll stop being friends now. i mean, how can i tell my mom i'm buddies with a guy who drinks from a bowl and showers with dish soap. she'll ask if i'm friends with a dog!!!! ;) xxooxOctober 29, 2009 - 8:18 am
Marissa Rodriguez - Too funny! Somehow I managed to break all of our cups when we moved and we only had bowls to drink out of for a while so I totally get the bowl thing also haha! But the soap thing, I'm not going to tell my husband cause he'll probably think it's a good idea and never want to buy body soap again!October 29, 2009 - 9:05 am
Joleen Guddat - I actually guessed that you would use dish soap on the body because that is a total guy pragmatist thing to do...yes, girls like their magic fairy sprinkles.October 29, 2009 - 9:36 am
Julie Kling - I thought that you used the things *together* to bug Lindsay. That was really difficult to think of, and I couldn't come up with anything. But knowing that the way you use each item individually is how you bug her - well, that would be easier to think up.
And, in case you didn't know, bathing with dish soap helps when you have poison oak. At summer camp the counselors would always have us take "Joyful showers" - cold water and Joy dish soap.October 29, 2009 - 9:37 am
Daniël Cronk - LMAO -- that's so funny... using dish soap as body soap... i bet your skin must get really dried out?October 29, 2009 - 9:38 am
e'lisa - so funny!! i love posts like this. they put a big ol' smile on my face! LMAO.....October 29, 2009 - 9:43 am
Simeon Rodgers - Bobby, my man, you are a country boy at heart because I have done this in the past. I haven't drank from a bowl in a hot minute though because we got oodles of cups in my house but it hasn't always been that way. The dish detergent is good enough to wash dishes we EAT from ,so why not be good enough (and cheaper, for those who want to take the economical route) for our skin, especially if its formulated to give "soft hands" and all that bull. Its probably the same thing in different packaging. I say if its good enough to make suds, make it happen (but don't make Lindsey mad, just put your backup detergent in an old soap bottle and pull it out when you run out haha).October 29, 2009 - 9:45 am
cindy lowe - hahaha no.1 is cool, since billion of chinese people drink their soup (chinese soups are watery and brothy) out of their bowl exactly like you would drink water out of a bowl. :) So I agree with Julie, that's the chinese in you.
no. 2 is just straight up ghetto. hahahaaOctober 29, 2009 - 10:39 am
alex - I love this post ! Love the second part about soaps :D I would use shampoo instead ;)October 29, 2009 - 11:13 am
Laura - no offence but seriously!? - that bowl thing is just so lazy! How long does it really take to rinse a cup? probably just as long as it takes to go to the cupboard and grab a bowl! Just sayin'!
I have totally used shampoo as soap before though...October 29, 2009 - 12:16 pm
Kelley McGee - ummm am I the only one who has never heard of nor thought of using a bowl as a cup? I sometimes use my bowl sized mugs for ice cream or cereal but never a bowl for a cup... dish soap? ummm can you say chafe?October 29, 2009 - 4:14 pm
Before and After Wednesday! I’m really enjoying doing these :) I’m going to use another photo from Brittany and Zach’s Strawberry Farms wedding photos because… well because I really liked the photos I got from their wedding :)
As always, the actions I’ll be referring to below are from the Get Totally Rad Actions set – which I freaking love! The image was shot with my Canon 5D Mark II and my 24mm f/1.4L at 1/1000th, iso100, and f/1.4. And here’s the recipe…
1. So the top left image is the straight out of camera image with no processing.
2. The top right has Lights On applied at 100%.
3. The final (bottom) image has Milk and Cookies applied at 100% – but it has some modifications. Here they are…
If you’re looking for something to spruce up your photos, go for it and grab some Totally Rad Actions! I paid for both sets out of my pocket (no freebies there) and LOVE them. But do it through my link above or the banner below (shameless plug) as the money is going to go to a rad cause ;)
Hope this helps some of you out! As always, comments tend to remind me to do this again next week, so let me know what you guys think :)

Would anyone be interested in hanging out at our place? Lindsay and I were thinking about having either a weekly (or every other week) hang out at our place for a few weeks. Here’s our idea…
The british version of the Office.
There’s 12 episodes and then a 2 hour special. We’ll treat it like a movie every week? Maybe three episodes at a time… Anyone interested? If so, let me know! Could be fun hang out time.
Given the nature (and language) of the british version of the Office (those foul mouthed brits! :P), no kiddies allowed ;)
Daniel Hendley - I'm a fan of both the US and UK version as well... I know lots of people who like one or the other or neither, but almost never both... I don't get it, they're both awesome in their own ways!October 27, 2009 - 6:40 am
Aimee Davidson - yeah, let me know time and place. travel included in this deal? and I like both versions as well....watch the show extras if you haven't. ricky gervais is awesome.October 27, 2009 - 11:14 am
BobbyandLindsay Earle - @Aimee, Extras might be the best show ever. I ordered HBO just of the series and immediately canceled when it was gone :) Lindsay and I just did a weekend marathon of the whole series again. Love that show!!!October 27, 2009 - 1:27 pm
Joel Allegretto - Your not alone on this one.. If i didn't live in texas i would be there!October 27, 2009 - 5:36 am
Ash - Fort Wayne area Wedding Photographer - Same thing Joel Said, except Indiana not Texas!October 27, 2009 - 5:55 am
Erin - sounds like fun :) i must say i've never seen the british version of the office, but i've heard it's quite possibly even better than the american version! hard to believe....October 27, 2009 - 7:18 am
Heather Nelson - I am in! Depending on the night. I have school Tuesday & Thursday nights,October 27, 2009 - 3:22 pm

Char Baiz - that sounds awesome! I've never seen the british version, but I've heard it's halarious. As long as Joel & I could get a babysitter on the right nights, we would totally be there :)October 27, 2009 - 8:54 am

Simeon Rodgers - I don't think you guys know what you're in for Bob-n-Lin. There ain't enough Tomatoes in pops garden to give to every person thats gonna show up to this. This could start to look like WPPI. Regardless, it sounds pretty sweet. I've never seen the British office.October 27, 2009 - 9:27 am
Kyle - Hang out at your place in...April?
I'll be there :)October 27, 2009 - 10:08 am
Dave - Christ it's only taken you 7 years to catch up with the 1st series of UK office ;) . Excellent series though, that will have you cringing with embarrasment.
Now if you really want to watch some bizarre UK comedy at it's best, try watching the BBC series "League of Gentlemen"
Enjoy :)October 27, 2009 - 11:18 am
Nick Radford - Sounds Awesome!!October 27, 2009 - 11:37 am

This may as well be a quote from me. There aren't enough words to describe the genius of David Brent and The Office.October 27, 2009 - 3:05 pm
Leif - It's great to find people who appreciate both versions of the office. If this is open to anyone...my wife and I would be down.

Jena Olson - Best. Show. Ever. My husband and I did an Office (British version) marathon a few years ago, watched every episode in one day. Started at 9 in the morning, ate pizza and buffalo wings and beer...it was awesome. I'd love to stop by for some Office fun.October 29, 2009 - 7:59 am
Mark Burrows - Pity I live several thousand miles away in Nottingham (England) else I'd be there! :-(

Cat Hoffman - yeah puppies and kittens grow crazy fast! we already have two dogs, and we had just 1 cat, but we got a new kitten two weeks ago, and he's already more than doubled in size... and still has much growing to do!
I agree by your comment about "if you didn't know better" that dogs always do look mean when they play-fight, especially when you get it on photo! that being said it's really funny to watch our mutt play w/ the kitten and put his whole head in her mouth, hahaOctober 26, 2009 - 1:56 pm
luke - Awwww ... I can't believe how fast he's growing! If only babies grew that fast! :DOctober 26, 2009 - 2:50 pm

Char Baiz - yay! I'm so happy you posted these!! They are soooo cute together! We just took our little Sammy to the dog park in OB yesterday for the first time and it was so cute. he's all shy. But we brought him again today and he did a tiny bit better. I need to make some puppy play dates for him so he can learn to play with other pups ;)October 26, 2009 - 6:16 pm
michelle arms - Big alright! Trouble and Remmy look like the same size. Almost ;-). They are gorgeous! When you and Lindsay have a baby, you'll have to blog twice a day I reckon... otherwise your blog will be all baby and nothing else, not that there's necessarily anything wrong with that :-).October 26, 2009 - 7:14 pm
