Andy and Emily are engaged!!! (a REAL engagement shoot)

So, before I say anything, I have to give a HUGE shout out to photographer extraordinaire, Jessica Claire, as I got the idea for this engagement from her :)

Now, this weekend one of my long time best friends came out from Phoenix. I met Andy in the 5th grade and we HATED each other. I broke his thumb playing a game of chicken even :) 7th grade came around and his mom needed him to stay somewhere over the weekend so she called my mom (it was a last resort, I recall). That night we hit it off and the rest was history.

Anyways, Andy wanted to ask his girlfriend to marry him and decided to do it when they came out to San Diego. When they got here I said to Emily, “hey, do you guys want to shoot some couples pictures?” Andy played it off like he didn’t care and Emily said she liked the idea. She took the bait! So, we went around San Diego hanging out and shooting every once and a while. We had a line that was Andy’s queue – but he was so into it that he didn’t hear me give the queue FOUR TIMES! I was starting to think that maybe he didn’t like the spot I picked. Anyways, he asked, she said yes, and it was beautiful.

Now, you may think, “hey, where is the kissing?!?!” as I usually have a good amount of hot and steamy photos :) but this time was a little different. Andy and Emily have chosen to wait until their wedding day for their first real kiss. Luckily they are having a very short engagement (like three months!) so I think they’ll be able to make it.

Seriously, I couldn’t have felt more privileged to be a part of this life changing moment. Andy is one of the best guys I know, has influenced my life immensely, and I couldn’t possibly be happier for him. Emily, now that we’ve met, is incredible. These two are perfect for each other and I really am so thankful that they met (and that Andy was able to somehow convince her :) Enjoy the photos everyone!

Anonymous - That is one of THE most beautiful things I've ever witnessed(if only by slideshow)in my life! I use to change Andy's diapers and, in later years, made up ridiculous games to keep him and his brother, Jason, entertained while I babysat them. Andy was an awesome kid and and is an even more awesom-er grown up man-dude! I am so happy for him! Thank you for creating and sharing the video. You have mad skills!

Memorial Day…

What a beautiful day today was :) I just wanted to say that this country (and many other countries, I might add) owes a debt of gratitude to our veterans. Recently, French President Nicolas Sarkozy shared that “America liberated us, and this is an eternal debt we owe America.” It’s very easy to concentrate only on the problems of America and forget all of the great things this nation has done. Our veterans have made not just America, but the entire world a better place. Without them, I think life might be a bit darker.

So, to those of you who served in the past and made it through, those who served and fell, and those who are serving now; I can never thank you all enough for what you have done. So many around the world can live better lives because of your selflessness. May God bless you all deeply.

Tracy and Jen…

Lindsay and I had the absolute pleasure of shooting Tracy and Jen’s engagement photos yesterday. What a sweet pair these two are! We met up down in La Jolla to shoot at this Methodist Church that Jen had spotted. It was such an awesome looking building! Thanks you two for such a fun time shooting :) Can’t wait for the wedding in August!!!

Still going through ‘em but here are a few of my favorites so far :)

Maria Sue Chapman (2003-2008)…

I just heard some heartbreaking news about a christian music artist named Steven Curtis Chapman. Now, I’m no real fan of the christian music industry, but this guy is a good guy. My mom is HUGE into christian music but is also aware that not all christian artists are the greatest of christians. However, she has always told me stories about Steven Curtis Chapman’s adoptions (he has three chinese daughters) and his organization, ShaoHannah’s Hope, that helps families reduce the financial barrier of adoption, and has provided grants to over 1700 families wishing to adopt orphans from around the world. As some of you know, Lindsay and I love China, adoption, and used to work at an orphanage out in Beijing, so Chapman is high up in our book.

Anyways, my thoughts and prayers are truly with him and his family today as their five year old adopted daughter passed in an accident yesterday. Seriously, my heart goes out to them more than I can possibly express. For those who are religious, I’m sure they would appreciate your prayers. For those who aren’t, I’m sure they would appreciate your thoughts. I honestly don’t know how I would get through a situation like this and am truly heartbroken for them. May God bless the Chapman’s for their big hearts for adoption and somehow help them through this unbelievable tragedy.

Bottom line, don’t let the little things distort how great life is. If you’ve got your family then who cares if you’re having trouble making the rent, you know?

DnB Photograpahy - I am a huge fan of yours and I also am a Christian and a fan of Steven's music, this is a tragic story, and I ask anyone reading to please say prayers for their son also, he needs them now more then ever-

Our puppy and American Idol…

So, David “I know” Cook (I’ll explain the nick name in a second) won American Idol tonight. American Idol is one of the few downsides to my being married. I’m forced to watch it, but hey, if watching American Idol is the biggest downside of being married to Lindsay then I can’t complain to much, right :)

Anyways, we call him David “I know” Cook because we have this theory that when he says “thank you” upon getting a compliment he is actually saying “I know… I know…”

So Remmy can’t have babies now since she got spayed last week. She keeps going at her stitches so we put a lampshade and a tshirt on her to make sure she doesn’t irritate it too much. How cute does she look!

Curtis - I also watch AI and started watching because of Jes -- I didn't mind Cook this year and he was a lot better than "sing a ballad/inspirational song, squint, bob, squint, forget lyrics" David. ;)

And as far as the pup, good call with the shirt, we never thought of that here and probably would have worked for a bit. Dom was pretty good with his when he got his first neutering, the second time around he wasn't as forgiving on the stitches however (yes, neutered twice, one of his nicknames is 3 Ball -- sometimes) and then when Fozzie was neutered he was pretty good for not licking etc but Domino would so there was no defense except hovering over them.

How is Remmy doing with walking with the cone/lampshade on? Dom had his neck shaved for a hot spot last summer and would walk into everything and get stuck. He try to walk through door ways and just bonk into the frame and stand there looking at us -- instead of backing up and trying again, it became a pain so we try not doing that anymore.May 22, 2008 - 5:59 am
